ROUTE OF NATIONAL PARKS OF THE PORT
CABO BLANCO RESERVE – PIEDRAS BLANCAS NATIONAL PARK
Better known as Absolute Natural Reserve Cabo Blanco, a place where the forest was regenerated and more than a monument to humanity’s hope for a better future, is an example of nature in the search for its balance.
In the Peninsula of Nicoya it is possible to enjoy what we look for in this route: beach. It is one of the largest peninsulas in the country where you can find beaches, peninsulas, reserves and the best places to surf.
You can reach the Islas Negritos Biological Reserve, where the forest becomes a refuge for the birds of the area. To visit the area, only by boat.
In a part of this route you will have to take a ferry (where you can take your car), to transfer it from one coast to another, approximately one to two hours.
The Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve is in Puntarenas, and once we pass the ferry, we can get here. Who would imagine a cold and cloud forest in a province as hot as Puntarenas? Well that is the advantage of microclimates.
This is one of the most coveted sites for ecotourism and is one of the most impressive nature reserves in the world.
After Monteverde, we can go to the Carara National Park, passing through the Montes de Oro Refuge.

The Punta Leona Reserve is one of the most vital in the sector because it is currently home to the only remaining rainforests found in the transitional living zone between the jungles of the southwest and the dry jungles of the northwest.
Playa Hermosa de Puntarenas is one of the best surfing havens for both national and international professionals. The International Quicksilver Surfing Championship is held here. IMPORTANT NOTE: In Costa Rica there are 2 Playa Hermosa, this is located in Puntarenas, the other is located in Guanacaste.
This beach is very close to the most famous and also the smallest park in Costa Rica, Manuel Antonio National Park. It is the perfect combination of beautiful beaches with exotic jungles and what to say about the animals and bird species, as well as reefs and corals. A must see.
More impressive places? Expect to reach Marino Ballena National Park, where whales and dolphins emerge from the water and offer a spectacle that you can witness, is perfect for sighting these huge animals, humpback whales and various types of dolphins.
In the Peninsula of Osa is located Golfo Dulce where is the Forest Reserve with the same name. It is a huge bay with beautiful unspoiled beaches, rivers and forests, protected by the Reserve. This reserve is close to Corcovado National Park, another park known for its great biodiversity and for being the home of the largest and only tropical primary rainforest in the world, and also the smallest Piedras Blancas National Park.
On the way between these two parks you will find Golfito, a port city. Door for the surfers, towards Pavones, and for the sport fishermen. Famous for eco-lodges that offer visitors the opportunity to see their natural environment with the least amount of impact to the environment.
